Artificial Intelligence and the Future of Humanities Research
In this talk, Giovanni Colavizza will explore the innovative potential of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in support of Humanities research.
Computational methods, primarily AI, are finding increasing diffusion in the Humanities, for various tasks ranging from information extraction and retrieval to pattern detection and analysis. The lecture will further speculate on how modern AI technologies, in the form of Large Language Models, will impact Humanities research in the near future: firstly, with their diffusion as general purpose interfaces and, secondly, as means to access and interrogate large and diverse collections of primary and secondary sources.
Giovanni Colavizza is head of the Centre for Digital and Computational Humanities.
After the lecture, the Department of Communication will host a reception in the HUM canteen, 23.1.30.
